French Club Sponsors Cake Decorating Contest

Le Cercle Français, Augie's French club, is sponsoring a Cake Decorating Contest to help benefit The Banquet in Sioux Falls. Everyone--students, faculty, staff, friends, parents, and others--are invited to submit decorated cakes.

DETAILS

  • Choose 1 (or both) cake themes: Halloween Cake, Autumn Cake
  • Bring your cake(s) to Humanities 317 (Foreign Language Seminar Room) between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. on Friday October 28.
  • Bring your cake on a disposable or plastic tray, or in a disposable container: we are not able to return cake plates, platters or containers to you.
  • Winners will be announced on Saturday, Oct. 30; prizes may be picked up on Monday, Oct. 31 from 12:00-2:00, and 3:00-4:00 in Humanities 315.

We hope you'll enter a cake (or two)! Get baking!

Five Augie Students Inducted into French Honor Society

During a banquet held at Grille 26 in Sioux Falls, five Augustana University students were inducted into Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society for college and university undergraduate and graduate students in the United States.

Pi Delta Pi, established in 1906 at the University of California, Berkeley, is the highest academic honor awarded to students studying French. The purpose of the Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and Francophone literatures, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and to encourage French and Francophone cultural activities. The Society has more than 375 chapters and 75,000 members in the United States. Augustana University's Mu Alpha chapter, established in 1997, is the only chapter in South Dakota. The faculty advisor is Dr. Scott Fish.
