Dear AU Community,

I am writing today to introduce you to #ForAU, a campaign designed to reinforce the importance of following the health and safety protocols outlined in the Viking Flex Health and Safety Pledge for students and employees. Both the pledge and the campaign were inspired by our core value of community.

At AU, we are blessed to be part of something much bigger than ourselves. We consider the people of this place to be our family and the Augustana campus our home. The weeks ahead will provide us opportunities to show our deep care for one another in very visible ways, each and every day. Our individual and collective efforts will be essential in ensuring we can finish the fall semester as outlined in the Viking Flex Plan.

When you see #ForAU and I Wear. We Care. #ForAU, may you be filled with gratitude for friends, professors, coaches, administrators and staff who are making every effort to ensure we can stay together (6 feet apart) until Thanksgiving. Just as important, think about every step you are taking for the health and safety of others — as well as for yourself. While a mask is not an “accessory” any of us ever imagined we would wear to class, the grocery store, or a social event, it has become an essential piece of our daily attire — you may even find yourselves inspired to take this opportunity to express your Viking spirit and/or creativity in a new way, front and center.

Some of Augustana’s health and safety protocols are already part of our daily habits, others are not. Please be prepared to provide your support and encouragement, along with generous grace, as we form new habits.

We’re all in this together, #ForAU!
