About Augustana Vikings Cross Country
The Vikings have established themselves as a cross country power in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and took home their first two region titles since 1991 in fall 2012. The Augustana women earned a runner-up finish at this year's NCAA Championships, and their first-ever regional title, one year off their national title season in 2011.
The Viking men won their second regional title, first since 1991, and placed fourth at the NCAA Championships, the highest finish for a men's team in school history.
Head coach Tracy Hellman has a laundry list of accolades to go along with his 13-year tenure at the head of Augustana's cross country/track and field programs. Hellman has 14 conference championships, six consecutive for women and four straight for the men, to go with his two regional titles and national championship in 2011. On 17 occasions, Hellman has earned coach of the year honors, aided by coaching 60 All-America honorees.
