UPDATE: Weather Related Postponements and Cancelations

The Augustana College campus will be OPEN for normal scheduled events and classes on Friday, April 12.

Please avoid downed trees and any walkways that have not been cleared or have been blocked with barricades or orange cones. The College has started the process of clearing debris; however, this process will take some time.

 

Weather-related cancelations and postponements

  • Two speakers on Augustana’s International Theme of “China and Globalization” were postponed to Friday, April 12 — at 10 a.m. in Humanities 123, Dr. Emily McRae on "Metabolizing Anger: A Solution to the Problem of Moral Anger,” and at 3 p.m. in the Back Alley, New York Times best-selling author Da Chen will give the audience a look into China during the cultural revolution.
  • The annual meeting of the South Dakota Academy of Science, planned for April 12-13, has been canceled due to severe weather. However, Dr. Eric Klawiter (Biology graduate), class of 2000 and an Assistant Professor of Neurology (Harvard Medical School, Mass. General Hospital) will be giving his talk entitled, "Mapping neural connections with MRI to study neurologic disease" at 3 p.m. in GSC 101.
  • The Junior Visit Day scheduled for Friday, April 12, has been canceled. Join us Friday, April 26, instead.
  • The Siouxland Trombone Festival's Friday events, including the Friday evening concert, will be held in Kresge Recital Hall. On Sunday, the Festival will feature a recital by New York Philharmonic trombonist Joseph Alessi.
  • The Langston Hughes Project originally planned for Thursday on campus has been canceled due to severe weather.
  • The Augustana Thought Leader Forum will go on, as scheduled, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12, at CJ Callaway's.
  • The “Saturdays at CWS” workshop event on digital photography" on Saturday, April 13, at the Center for Western Studies has been postponed. The new date is yet to be determined.
  • The Alumni Council meeting planned for Saturday, April 13, will take place as scheduled.
