April 2: Northlanders and All-City Jazz Concert
Augustana's Northlanders Jazz Band and the All-City Middle School Jazz Band will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, in Kresge Recital Hall, located in the Humanities Center on campus.
The Northlander's Jazz Band is a 19-member ensemble under the direction of Mark Isackson for the 2012-13 academic year. The Band was founded in 1954 with Earl Colgan as its first student director and continued as a student-run organization until Dr. Harold Krueger assumed its leadership in 1965. During the past 10 years, the Band has commissioned seven big band jazz charts. This new jazz music is available through Sierra Music Publications, Doug Beach Music, and Kendor Music.
The All-City Middle School Jazz Band began more than 14 years ago and gathers once a year for this special concert featuring the very best of Sioux Falls student jazz musicians. The group is sponsored by the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society. The group is also conducted by Mark Isackson.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and are free for students K-12 and those with an Augustana ID. Tickets are available at www.augietickets.com.
