Ahead of European Tour, The Augustana Choir to Perform in Christmas Vespers
Ahead of its 2013 European Tour, The Augustana Choir will perform alongside Angelus, the Collegiate Chorale, the Chamber Choir and the Augustana Orchestra in "Light of My Soul," Augustana's Christmas Vespers performance series celebrating the birth of Christ.
Performances will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Performance times are:
- Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m.
A special performance will also be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City, S.D., at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
The Augustana Choir and Chamber Choir are under the direction of Dr. Paul Nesheim. Dr. Christopher Stanichar leads the orchestra; Dr. Lisa Grevlos leads Angelus and Dr. Russell Svenningsen directs the Collegiate Chorale.

Led by Nesheim, Dr. Michael Nitz, associate professor of Communications Studies and coordinator of Norwegian programs, Dr. Scott Johnson, associate professor of music and chair of the Department of Music, and Brad Heegel '76, tour coordinator and coordinator of Arts marketing and development, The Augustana Choir will depart on Sunday, Jan. 13, for a 20-day tour of Europe with stops in Berlin, Germany; Potsdam, Germany (where Choir members will take part in a Sister Cities gathering, sponsored by the Sister Cities Association of Sioux Falls); Leipzig, Germany; Prague, Czech Republic; Krakow, Poland; Vienna, Austria; Bratislava, Slovakia; Salzburg, Austria; and Munich, Germany.
