Housed in the Sharon Lust School of Education, Augustana University will begin offering courses for a Master of Social Work (MSW) in Fall 2025 as part of its Harriet Emily Scott Social Work Program. The MSW program at Augustana is one of only two MSW programs in South Dakota. This comes after the university began offering a minor in social work in Fall 2023 and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in Fall 2024.
Pet Blessing Continues to Be Blessing on Augustana’s Campus
Held in early October every year, many faith communities bless their pets and other animals around the feast day of St. Francis. At Augustana, the tradition of the pet blessing goes back at least three decades. The Augustana Mirror wrote about the third annual pet blessing in 1995 with a headline that read, “Animals ‘flock’ to pet blessing.”
Engineering the Future: Augustana University Launches New Hybrid Program to Meet Demands of Rapidly-Evolving Field
Augustana University is offering a new 5-year dual-degree engineering program — set to launch in Fall 2025. As part of the new program, students will take foundational courses at Augustana, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in chemistry, physics or mathematics at the university. Students will begin taking online engineering courses in their second year — offered through the University of North Dakota (UND).
This is in addition to Augustana's other dual-degree engineering options.

Beyond the Books: Triple Major Molds Future Through CORE Molding Technologies Internship
Azam Shaik ‘25 is a data science, quantitative economics and finance triple major from Hyderabad, India. At Augustana, he is a Viking Advisor (VA), Augustana Cultural Exchange (ACE) Ambassador, Beacom Research Fellow, tutor and involved with the Viking Distance Project and intramurals. This summer, Shaik completed a remote internship with CORE Molding Technologies, a plastics engineering solutions company.

The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana opens “The Augustana Faculty Biennial,” showcasing recent works by university art instructors and faculty, as well as faculty emeriti.
