International students bring a wealth of diversity and perspective to the Augustana University community and contribute in many ways as they earn their AU degrees.
IPO Welcome Week
Twice a year, the IPO and student volunteers in its ACE Ambassador Program welcome new international students to campus for international student orientation. Students settle into their on-campus accommodations, meet new friends, learn how to be a successful international student and get ready for classes to start. In the fall, we take a trip to see Mt. Rushmore, Badlands National Park, Crazy Horse Memorial and hike Black Elk Peak.

IPO Excursions
The IPO takes students on trips outside of Sioux Falls each year — to Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and the Old Market, and later to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to visit the Mall of America.
World’s Got Talent
Typically, this is the culminating event for International Education Week held in November — the World’s Got Talent Show at Augustana highlights international and American student performers with unique talents.

Holi Festival
In South Asia, the Holi Festival of Colors in March celebrates the victory of good over evil. This colorful event is a spring favorite among students at Augustana.

Friday Rendezvous
Hosted by the Augustana International Club (AIC) and supported by the IPO, the Friday Rendezvous Program occurs most Fridays at 4 p.m., in the Back Alley of the Morrison Commons, from September through May. International student(s) present about home with a new country featured each week. Returned study away students occasionally present as well.
Friendship Family Program
The Augustana Friendship Family Program is designed to give international students a welcoming family connection in the Sioux Falls community and off-campus exposure to American culture and family traditions.
