Biography 

Dr. Andrea Powell joined Augustana in 2022 as an assistant professor of exercise & sport sciences (ESS). She is the director for Augustana's strength & conditioning program. Powell teaches a variety of ESS courses including Kinesiology, Introduction to Exercise & Sport Sciences and Theory & Techniques of Strength & Conditioning. Prior to Augustana, she was an instructor of kinesiology & sport management at the University of South Dakota (USD). Before her career led to higher education, Powell was a sports performance coach. She has coached Olympians, NFL players, youth athletes and active adults in the college, private and clinical settings. Powell conducts research on athletic retirement, with a focus on NCAA athletes' transition out of sport.
