Biography
Mary Nelson is a faculty associate for the nursing department. During her time at Augustana, she has taught in a variety of courses such as introduction to nursing at the sophomore level, adult health at the junior level and NCLEX review at the senior level. She has served as skills lab coordinator, led clinicals for junior level courses and facilitated ATI testing and remediation. She has been active in the Culture of Caring Committee at Sanford Health. While on the education-practice committee, Nelson has worked on the development and implementation of an innovative teaching learning model and curriculum which focuses on enhancing the practice readiness of nursing students. In addition to her role at Augustana, Nelson is a clinical nurse educator for Sanford Health where she co-leads the summer nursing internships. Nelson earned a bachelor's degree from South Dakota State University and master's in nursing education and leadership from Regis University.
