The university is excited to announce that a total of 2,086 students — part- and full-time undergraduate and graduate students — chose to embark on a bold future at Augustana for Academic Year 2022-23. Hailing from 37 states and 49 foreign countries, the number marks the fourth largest student body in four decades at Augustana.
The student body at Augustana includes 553 new first-year full-time undergraduate students — the second-largest in the university’s history and 116 more than last year. The largest incoming class ever recorded at Augustana was in 1970, with 594 first-year full-time undergraduate students.
“We are excited about sharing the exciting opportunities Augustana has to offer with these students from right next door and across the globe. Our faculty are committed to programs, both new and continuing, that provide students an education of enduring worth,” said Registrar and Assistant Vice Provost of Academic Affairs Joni Krueger.
Included in the near-record incoming class this fall are 92 new international students — a new record for Augustana. In total, AU is home to approximately 188 transfer, exchange and continuing international students.
“We are delighted that so many international students from around the world call Augustana home. We’re better telling our story in key markets overseas, allowing students to see the incredible opportunities both in Sioux Falls and on campus. While many AU students study abroad, our international students enrich campus and help all of our students see their future career fields in a more global context,” said Director of International Programs & Enrollment Ben Iverson ‘04.
