The university is excited to announce that a total of 2,158 students — part- and full-time undergraduate and graduate students — chose to find their bold at Augustana for Academic Year 2023-24. Hailing from 42 states and 57 foreign countries, the number marks the largest student body in 44 years at Augustana.
The student body at Augustana includes 1,871 total undergraduates and 287 total graduate students. The overall undergraduate student head count marks the highest number at Augustana in more than three decades. With the addition of its first doctorate program — Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) — AU also set a record with the most full-time graduate students in the university’s history.
“This is the third consecutive year that our overall enrollment has increased, which is evidence that prospective students continue to recognize the immense value of an Augustana education. In addition to an exceptional academic experience, the physical transformation of our campus, a robust and active student life environment, and the abundance of real-world learning opportunities in Sioux Falls were cited as top reasons why students chose AU,” said Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management Adam Heinitz ‘99.
Included in the incoming class this fall are 76 new international students. In total, AU is home to 215 international students.
“We are elated that AU is home to a record 215 international students this year, crushing our past record of 188 in fall of 2022. International students bring diverse perspectives and experiences that enhance all students’ learning,” said Interim Co-Director of the International Programs Office (IPO) Heather Edmunds Reed.
The top majors declared by Augustana students include biology, nursing, business administration, exercise science, psychology, finance, elementary education, computer science, accounting and marketing.
