Thanks to the Jean Schroeder Educational Trust, Augustana University has received nearly $1 million for endowed student scholarships. The trust was established by Dr. A.T. (Andy) Anderson in memory of his late wife, Jean Schroeder ‘60.
Schroeder was a history and government & international affairs double major at Augustana. She was a member of the Augustana Choir and concert choir, as well as Augustana’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society.
A retired professor of political science at Napa Community College in California, Schroeder passed away in 2004.
Schroeder and Anderson, also a professor, were dedicated to education and helping students prepare for their careers. Anderson believed that our nation is served by those who make a dedicated effort to reach their highest academic and vocational goals.
With this in mind, Anderson, who passed away in 2009, established the Jean Schroeder Educational Trust — dedicated to individuals with financial need who have made a commitment to preparing for their future through instruction in an institution of higher education.
Because of Anderson’s generosity, Schroeder’s legacy will live on through Augustana students seeking to become the change-makers and problem-solvers of tomorrow. This trust provides the opportunity for Vikings with financial need to receive an education of enduring worth.
