Title: Office Coordinator

Augustana University Center for Western Studies, a regional research center, invites applications for a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Coordinator to assist the Executive Director in managing the Center for Western Studies' operations, finances, programs, events, and staff. This full-time position requires strong administrative, financial, and event coordination skills, as well as the ability to foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Administrative Support: Manage correspondence, prepare reports, process payments, track financial data, and serve as a liaison with various departments.
Event Coordination: Assist with organizing events such as the Boe Forum, Dakota Humanities Conference, Artists of the Plains, gallery receptions, and board meetings. Handle logistics, including scheduling, catering, and participant communication.
Financial Management: Maintain accurate financial records, compile reports, process donations, and manage sales tax submissions.
Staff Supervision: Train and mentor staff and student employees, coordinate time sheets, and delegate tasks efficiently.
Program Support: Assist with publication processes, gift shop management, and research appointments.
Building Operations: Manage building security, housekeeping, and scheduling for events and classes. Serve as a point of contact for maintenance issues.
Qualifications include:
Current and valid Driver’s License
Bachelor’s degree in the humanities, sciences, or social sciences.
Previous administrative support and/or bookkeeping with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel) and the Google Suite (Sheets, Calendar, Drive and Gmail).
Strong communication skills and professional customer service mentality.
Ability to exercise poise, discretion, and integrity towards students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to use time effectively.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
