Augustana Associate Vice President of Campus Safety & Logistics Rick Tupper has been named the 2023 Augie Pride Award winner — given to those who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide exceptional service to the university and nominated by other AU employees. He was surprised with the award on Friday, April 21, by Augustana President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and a host of other colleagues.

South Dakotans Working to Get Bison Kill Site on National Register, Provides AU Students With Golden Hands-On Learning Opportunity
South Dakotans are trying to get the Fawcett (bison) Kill Site in Ree Heights nominated to the National Register of Historic Places on behalf of the South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office. Augustana students recently accompanied volunteers from the South Dakota Historical Society and staff from Augustana’s Archaeology Lab in Western Hand County to conduct a field investigation of the prehistoric bison kill site that was first discovered in 2015, and revisited in 2017 by several universities in South Dakota and historical Society.

Carolyn "Beth" (Pearl) Mazzella ‘71, who attended the "Augustana On the Road" in Rapid City, South Dakota, shared the story of her impactful career in public health — beginning as a commissioned officer and retiring as assistant surgeon general/chief nurse officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), with an honorable discharge after 26 years.
