The faculty are those who have been granted status as faculty members by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the President. The faculty shall consist of teachers with the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Instructor, and any other designated by the President.

Title: Graduate Assistant Track and Field/Cross-Country Coach

Augustana University, a NCAA Division II private liberal arts institution that is beginning competition in the Northern Sun Conference, is accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant Track/Cross-Country Coach. The position will assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the program. Duties will include, but are not limited to, practice planning, recruiting, meet management, and other duties assigned by head coach.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required and previous experience as a track and field athlete or coach is preferred.

Compensation will be a stipend and tuition waiver.

Title: Assistant or Associate Professor

Augustana University seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, tenure track position in the Business Administration Department at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Augustana’s business program is recognized for the excellence of its internship experiences that provide high impact learning experiences in financial services, private and public accounting, healthcare, non-profit organizations, marketing, sports management, and more. Our students engage in class projects that provide improvement and solutions for businesses in our vibrant Sioux Falls community. Augustana business graduates work at local businesses and at some of the most influential companies in the world, from Google to Nike. Our recently approved Master's in Professional Accountancy will provide additional opportunities to serve an even broader audience. 

Ideal candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Business Administration or related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree in business or accounting and university teaching experience will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching, scholarly and professional activities, and a willingness to be active in service to the university and community.

Primary responsibility is to teach courses for the business administration degree, which may include finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, and/or management. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have significant full-time teaching experience. Significant practical professional experience in a discipline-related field is desirable.

Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Science Education
Position Type: Full-Time

Augustana University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in 7-16 STEM education. Augustana is committed to STEM/Science Education, is completing a $35 million science facility and has grant funding for science education. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a doctorate in science education/curriculum instruction and a background in a particular STEM area.

Teaching Expectations: In addition to teaching courses focusing specifically on Grades 7-12 STEM pedagogy, the person in this position will be providing leadership to innovative pedagogy initiatives at the university level and will be expected to demonstrate and apply those pedagogical practices by teaching courses in their particular disciplinary area. In addition, a commitment to inclusive excellence and experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.  

Research/Scholarship Expectations: While teaching is a major component of the position, this position also includes the development and administration of STEM-related grants. Experience with preparation and implementation of proposals for external funding is preferred. In addition, evidence of a commitment and clearly developed plan for future professional growth in science education scholarship is expected.

Title: Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor
Position Type: Full-Time
Department: Chemistry

Augustana University seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, one-year visiting position (with the potential of a two-year assignment) in the Chemistry Department at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Primary responsibilities include teaching organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry for majors and non-majors. The anticipated start date is Fall, 2016, pending budgetary and administrative approval.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry (organic and/or medicinal chemistry and/or biochemistry emphasis), post-doctoral and prior teaching experience would be considered a plus.

Title: Assistant or Associate Professor
Position Type: Full-Time
Department: Nursing

The Augustana University Nursing Department invites applications for tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor. A doctoral degree is required and the PhD in nursing or a DNP in a clinical specialty. If the doctoral degree is in a related field, the applicant must have a graduate degree in a nursing clinical specialty. Expertise in adult/gero and/or child health desired. Expertise in genetics and genomics a plus.

Responsibilities: Successful applicants will demonstrate strong commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment and may have opportunity to shape a new graduate program. Teaching responsibilities in didactic, clinical, and simulation laboratory required. Courses to be taught are dependent on specialization and interests of the successful applicant.

Augustana’s progressive undergraduate nursing program is recognized for the excellence of its graduates and for its experienced, creative, and engaging faculty. The Department of Nursing has both a traditional baccalaureate program and an accelerated curriculum for students with BA/BS degrees. Planning for graduate education and a genetic nursing certificate are also in the planning process. Opportunities exist for international study and exchange opportunities for students and faculty. The Nursing Department celebrates 75 years of excellence in nursing education. The nursing program has had a first-time NCLEX pass rate of 95-100% for several years. 

Qualifications: Earned doctoral degree preferred, evidence of teaching excellence and scholarly productivity.
