Faculty Positions

We continue to evaluate our current situation as it relates to the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. The faculty are those who have been granted status as faculty members by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the President. The faculty shall consist of teachers with the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Instructor, and any other designated by the President.

Job Title: Graduate Nursing Program Director

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Nursing

The Augustana University Nursing Department invites applications for Graduate Nursing Program Director. This is a tenure track, eleven-month Assistant or Associate Professor position.  A doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline is required. Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification or experience in genetics preferred. The program currently offers baccalaureate and accelerated nursing degrees and seeks to develop graduate programming in nursing.

DUTIES:  Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered teaching excellence in an expanding nursing program within the context of the liberal arts. Opportunity exists to shape new educational programming at the masters and doctoral level, as well as the research core in nursing. The candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, curricular development, administrative leadership, integration of diverse education and experiences within the curriculum, and evaluation of graduate programs in nursing. The candidate will collaborate with faculty and stakeholders to develop and promote graduate programs and oversee accreditation efforts.  Courses to be taught are dependent on specialization and interests of the successful applicant.

QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctoral degree in nursing, with national certification as a nurse practitioner are required. Eligibility for SD licensure. Academic experience, experience with program development and accreditation preferred. Practice experience in a clinical specialty, teaching excellence, and a habit of scholarly productivity.

Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
