Augustana University provides benefits to its employees who work 35 hours or more per week, or teach 6/7 time or more as a faculty member.

Insurance Benefits
Health:
Eligible employees and dependents may participate in the insurance plan provided by Augustana University. Coverage will be effective on the date of hire.
Health coverage includes services such as:
- office visits
- surgical services
- mental health services
- physical exams
- pharmacy expenses
Dental:
All qualifying employees and their dependents (if applicable) will be covered and become eligible on the first day of the month following the date of employment. This is a voluntary plan which the employee pays the total cost of the premium.
Dental coverage includes services such as:
- Diagnostic and Preventive Services
- Basic Services
- Endodontics and Periodontics (covered after 12 months enrolled)
- Major Services (covered after 12 months enrolled)
- Orthodontics (covered after 12 months enrolled)
Short Term Disability:
Augustana provides 100% of an employee's salary for short-term disability for up to four, six-week periods.
The University provides this benefit at no cost to the employee.
Long Term Disability:
Total disability insurance will go into effect on the employee's first day of employment.
Disability benefits take effect after a six-month period of total disability. The total disability benefit is 60% of your monthly salary at the time your disability occurred.
The TIAA-CREF contributions continue to your retirement plan as a function of this coverage.
The University provides this benefit at no cost to the employee.
Life Insurance:
All eligible employees will have life insurance equal to one year's base salary with a maximum of $50,000 and a minimum of $15,000.
The employee's spouse will have $5,000 of life insurance coverage.
Dependents of the employee (over 14 days and less than 19 years old or if a student, age 23) are covered for $2,500 of life insurance coverage.
The University provides this benefit at no cost to the employee.
Additional life insurance is available to employees and their dependents for a nominal monthly cost.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D):
If an employee sustains an accidental bodily injury, and the injury directly causes the loss of eyesight, body part or loss of life, a payment will be made according to the loss based on the employee's life insurance coverage.
The University provides this benefit at no cost to the employee.
Additional AD&D is available to employees for a nominal monthly cost.
Retirement:TIAA-CREF
Full-time employees are required to participate in the TIAA-CREF retirement program on the first day of employment.
All employees become vested in the retirement program after 23 months of plan participation.
Contributions shall be as follows:

Tuition Assistance
Tuition Assistance will be allowed in the following manner:

*A percent of full tuition refers to the benefit, not the cost. If tuition is $10,000/semester and you are at 25%, your benefit is $2,500 for the semester.
**Tuition Assistance will not apply to more than 7 credit hours per semester. If the student is a full-time student, the cost of these credit hours is applied to the tuition costs.
