    • Learn about this year’s Viking Days Royalty at Get-to-Know-the-Royalty Night. 

Monday, Sept. 30

  • Viking Days Kick-Off & Ole Olympics | STUDENT EVENT
    • 5-8 p.m. | Ole Green 
    • Help Augustana kick off Viking Days 2024! A long-held homecoming tradition of the Ole Olympics will be hosted at the kickoff along with lawn games, food and prizes!

Tuesday, Oct. 1

  • Sailing Into Service  |  STUDENT, EMPLOYEE, ALUMNI EVENT
    • 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. | Back Alley, Morrison Commons
    • Augustana will be giving back to the community by partnering with RSO, Letters of Love, who provide emotional support to children battling cancer and other chronic illnesses through the creation of hand-crafted letters and other support items. AU wants every child to know they are loved, supported and never alone; that they have a whole team fighting right along with them and supporting them each step of the way. Stop by to volunteer at any time throughout the day!

Wednesday, Oct. 2

  • Viking Feast  |  STUDENT, EMPLOYEE, RETIREE EVENT
    • 5-7 p.m. | Elmen Center
    • Join us for a long held Viking Days tradition of enjoying a meal together at the Viking Feast, complete with the Augie Bowl and music from the Augustana Jazz Band, as well as inflatables, caricature artists and more!
    • Old Maple Project Sale: Purchase one-of-a-kind items from Augustana's old maple tree, milled in 2022. Pieces available for purchase include charcuterie and cutting boards, bowls, vases, pens and more. Cards, cash and checks accepted. Proceeds support Augustana student scholarships.
  • Coronation Ceremony  |  COMMUNITY EVENT

    • Join Augustana at Coronation as the university crowns its Viking Days Royalty!

    • Alumni from class years ending in '4 and '9 are invited to come to campus with their friends and classmates! Elsie's caramel rolls, coffee and juice will be provided.

    • For alumni who are celebrating or have celebrated their 50th class reunion, with Augustana’s executive team to give an update on the many things happening around campus. Members of the class of 1974 will be inducted into the Augustana Honor Guard. The Honorary Alumni Society induction will also take place

  • Class of 1974 50th Reunion Memorial Service  |  ALUMNI EVENT

    • The class of 1974 will gather to honor classmates who have passed away. Registration is not required.

    • Founded at Augustana and Sioux Falls Colleges as a precursor to today's Black Student Union and Native American Student Association, surviving members of the 1968 affinity group share their experiences in this panel discussion event.
  • Class of 1974 50th Reunion Campus Tour  |  CLASS OF 1974
    • 3 p.m. | Meet at Ole Statue
    • The class of 1974 will receive tours of campus from Augustana students. 
    • This event is free, but registration is encouraged.
  • Rendezvous Presentation  |  COMMUNITY EVENT
    • 4 p.m. | Back Alley, Morrison Commons
    • Augustana international students share presentations on their home countries. Hosted by the International Programs Office and Augustana International Club, this event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
  • Class of 1974 50th Reunion Banquet |  CLASS OF 1974
    • 5:30 p.m. | Holiday Inn City Centre-Downtown (100 W 8th St.)
    • Social begins at 5:30 p.m.; reunion class photo at 6:30 p.m.; dinner at 6:45 p.m. with President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin to visit and accept the Class of 1974 Endowed Scholarship check.

  • Friends of the Augustana University Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Affinity Space Unveiling  |  STUDENT & ALUMNI EVENT

    • Start Viking Days weekend with a momentous occasion as the Augustana Office of DE&I officially opens the affinity space — a safe space for students to meet and gather. Join us for this special ceremony before proceeding to the welcome reception.

  • “Worlds Coming Together: Revelations Over Time” Exhibition Reception & Gallery Talk  |  COMMUNITY EVENT

    • This retrospective — on display Sept. 12 - Oct. 5 —of two Augustana alumni features examples of drawing, printmaking, mixed media, book and fiber arts.

    • Augustana is taking over Thunder Road for the night. Students should bring their Augustana ID; transportation will be provided for students who need it.

  • Viking Days Parade Pancake Feed  |  COMMUNITY EVENT
    • 8-10:30 a.m. | Halverson Atrium, Fryxell Humanities Center
    • The Augustana Advancement Office is hosting a favorite homecoming parade tradition — the pancake feed.

  • Viking Marching Band — Alumni Rehearsal  |  STUDENT, ALUMNI EVENT
    • 9 a.m. | Fryxell Humanities Center, Room 168
    • Band alumni are welcome to participate with the Viking Marching Band for the tailgate performance and/or at the football game. For those interested in participating during the tailgate, meet at Augieville at 11:45 a.m. with the performance to begin at noon. For more information, contact Dr. Andrew Hayward, director of the Viking Marching Band.

    • All are invited to visit the School of Music for coffee and fellowship. While you're here, visit the Midco Media Center and new Yamaha DCFX Concert Grand Piano in Hamre Recital Hall. School of Music merchandise will also be available for purchase. For more information, contact Matthew Erickson, manager of operations & community partnerships for the School of Music, or the School of Music office.

    • All alumni, friends and family are welcome to join us before the big game.
    • Look out for the alumni tent, where you can connect with fellow alumni and enjoy a fantastic lunch!
    • A-Club members eat for free by showing their Viking Pass. The cost for non-members is $10 for adults, $5 for children (through 8th grade), payable at the tailgate.
  • Viking Football vs. University of Minnesota Duluth  |  COMMUNITY EVENT

    • Rev. Ann Rosendale '04, campus pastor, will lead the Augustana community in worship.
  • Friends of the Augustana University Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Closing Meeting | ALUMNI EVENT
    • 11 a.m. | Froiland Science Complex, Room 113A&B
    • Conclude Viking Days Weekend with a celebratory brunch where we can debrief the weekend's events and discuss ways for alumni to stay involved with the university community. This will be an opportunity for open dialogue and brainstorming sessions to foster continued engagement and connection.
