The Augustana University Nursing Program invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor. A research doctorate in nursing or related discipline is preferred, as is advanced practice certification as an adult-gero clinical nurse specialist or adult-gero acute care nurse practitioner, or experience in mental health. Support for research and completion of the research doctorate is available for eligible candidates. All eligible candidates will be considered.
Duties:
Successful applicants will demonstrate strong commitment to student-centered teaching excellence in an expanding nursing program within the context of the liberal arts. The learning environment offers state-of-the art active learning classrooms and high-fidelity simulation laboratories. Opportunity exists to shape new educational programming at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as the research core in nursing. Courses to be taught are dependent on specialization and interests of the successful applicant.
Augustana’s progressive nursing program is recognized for the excellence of its graduates and for its experienced, creative, and engaging faculty. The Nursing Program has a traditional baccalaureate program, an accelerated baccalaureate program, and a master’s program with adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist and acute care nurse practitioner tracks. Opportunities exist for interdisciplinary research and collaboration with colleagues in health and life sciences, as well as in social science and the humanities. International study and exchange opportunities for students and faculty are a distinguishing feature of AU’s educational programming. The Nursing Program celebrates over 80 years of excellence in nursing education with a first-time NCLEX pass rate of 95-100% for several years.
Qualifications:
Earned research doctorate preferred, along with graduate level preparation and practice experience in a clinical specialty, teaching excellence, and a habit of scholarly productivity.
Interacting with students, faculty, and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value for the candidate.
