Campus Crime Line

The Campus Crime Line (605.274.5000) provides students, staff and faculty with an avenue to anonymously report criminal activity on or around campus. Callers can leave information anonymously or leave their name and contact information for officers to follow up.

If you have information related to a crime that occurred off campus, the Department of Campus Safety works closely with the Sioux Falls Police Department (SFPD), or provide a tip to Crime Stoppers of the Sioux Empire at 605.367.7007.

Reporting Crime

Emergency Assistance Phones

Several Emergency Assistance Phones are located throughout Augustana University's campus. To dial the Augustana Department of Campus Safety Dispatch & Security Center and activate a blue strobe light, press the phone’s “emergency” button. A campus safety officer will respond, even if nothing is communicated to the dispatcher. The emergency button should only be used for actual or perceived emergency situations.

Local calls can be made on the emergency phones using the black “call” button, but others nearby will be able to hear your conversation. In the unlikely event there is an emergency phone malfunction, contact the AU Department of Campus Safety.

Emergency Medical Services

The Augustana Department of Campus Safety acts as a first responder for medical emergencies on campus. Medical emergencies on campus are also handled by Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) and PatientCare EMS Solutions — an ambulance service.

Augustana Campus Safety officers are trained in CPR, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and basic first-responder first aid. The AU Department of Campus Safety maintains the AEDs located around campus and, in cooperation with the AU’s employee health educator, sponsors several CPR/AED classes throughout the calendar year for students, staff and faculty.
