Biography
Carmen Steen teaches American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting courses. Steen taught at the South Dakota School for the Deaf for 18 years and interpreted in the community before joining Augustana in 2009. Steen earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Sioux Falls and holds a NAD V (Master) interpreting certification, earned a 4.8 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) level 4.5, as well as a Qualified Level Certification with the ASLTA (American Sign Language Teachers Association). She has also served in various capacities with the SD Interpreter's Association Board.
