Biography 

Dr. Celeste Uthe-Burow holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in counseling psychology. Her dissertation focused on ethical decision-making and developing training models to educate health professionals on how to solve complex and difficult problems.

 

Uthe-Burow's passion is educating college students who are interested in pursuing work as a psychologist or mental health therapist. She serves two rural communities, providing essential mental health services to the area. As a licensed marriage & family therapist and professional counselor, Uthe-Burow specializes in working with and teaching individuals of all ages.

 

Prior to joining the Augustana Psychology Department, Uthe-Burow spent 32 years in education, serving as a teacher, principal and central administrator in the Sioux Falls School District.

 

At Augustana, Uthe-Burow teaches Lifespan Human Development, Introduction to Play Therapy, Child Psychology, Helping Skills and Practicum. Her courses are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become ethical and effective mental health professionals.

 

When not working, Uthe-Burow enjoys bicycling, traveling, cooking, learning new skills and spending time with friends and family.
