Biography
Dr. Kevin Natukunda teaches Human Anatomy, Human Physiology and Introductory Biology. During his graduate studies at Iowa State University, he utilized genome editing tools like CRISPR/Cas9 and TALENs to understand genes and cell types controlling gut motility using the zebrafish model system. The overall objective of his research was to characterize the origin, number, development, function, maintenance and turnover of the pacemaker cells (interstitial cells of Cajal-ICCs) in the gut and how they relate to the enteric nervous system (ENS) in regulating intestinal motility.
