The Augustana University Master of Social Work (MSW), housed in the Sharon Lust School of Education, is part of the Harriet Emily Scott Social Work Program. The MSW program focuses on preparing clinical practitioners who link individuals, families and communities with systems that provide them with resources, services and opportunities they may previously not have been able to access.
The MSW program is offered in a hybrid format to serve working professionals in a variety of different fields or settings. Those who live outside a 50-mile radius of campus can complete the program online.
Students who have earned a BSW from an accredited program will be able to enter the MSW program with Advanced Standing, which means they can complete the program in one year (30 credit hours). Students who have earned bachelor's degrees in other areas can complete the MSW program in two years (59 credit hours).
- The MSW program curriculum prepares students to be advanced clinicians in an area of interest. AU offers three cognates for students to specialize in: integrated behavioral health, play therapy or addictions.
- Students are provided real-world field practicum experience in preparation for their transition to the social work profession and clinical practice.
