The infamous Nyberg’s Ace Gjallarhorn at Augustana University’s Midco Arena has been suspended on the northeast corner of the building since opening in 2024. Now, thanks to alumni Kevin Nyberg '79, Dr. Mark Berdahl ‘81 and Dean Versteeg ‘82, Viking fans can view the gjallarhorn up close and at eye level during NCAA Division I Augustana Men’s Hockey games. Augustana University, Active Generations Partner to Promote Positive Aging, Lifelong Learning
Augustana University and Dr. Lucas Hamilton, assistant professor of psychology and director of the aging studies program, are partnering with Active Generations — a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting positive aging for adults. The partnership will kick off with the 2025 Lifelong Learning Program, where Hamilton will host a series of interactive TED Talk-style sessions at both of Active Generations’ locations. Vikings Partner With Vikings and Other NCAA Institutions to Launch Collegiate Women’s Flag Football League
Augustana announced that the university is partnering with the Minnesota Vikings and five other NCAA institutions to launch a new collegiate women’s flag football league. Participating schools include AU, Concordia College Moorhead, Gustavus Adolphus College, Bethel University, the University of Northwestern, St. Paul and University of Wisconsin, Stout.
Dedication to Education: University Receives Nearly $1 Million for Endowed Student Scholarships in Memory of Late Augustana Alumna
Thanks to the Jean Schroeder Educational Trust, Augustana University has received nearly $1 million for endowed student scholarships. The trust was established by Dr. A.T. (Andy) Anderson in memory of his late wife, Jean Schroeder ‘60.
Ceramics by Chotsani Elaine Dean on Display at Augustana’s Eide/Dalrymple Gallery
The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana University opens “Comptoir de Commerce: Luminal — Ceramics by Chotsani Elaine Dean,” which will be on view through Thursday, March 6. The Augustana University Department of Art will host the Dean on Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6, where she will be meeting with a range of classes. A closing gallery reception will take place from 7-9 p.m. on March 6, with Dean’s artist talk at 7:30 p.m.
Augustana’s School of Music Annual Jazz Festival Celebrates 50th Anniversary
The Augustana University School of Music (SoM) announced that the Augustana Northlanders Jazz Band, along with 800 middle and high school students from three states, will perform during the 50th Annual Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival on Monday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 4. 99% of 2024 Augustana University Graduates Achieve a Positive Career Outcome
A newly published report by Augustana University shows that 99% of 2024 graduates achieved a positive career outcome. Many of these graduates chose to continue their education, with 26% enrolled in graduate school or professional programs. More employment data, as well as other post-graduation activities and destinations for members of the Augustana Class of 2024, is detailed in the Career Outcomes Report published by the Student Success Center at augie.edu/outcomes.

Hosted by Augustana University and the Center for Western Studies (CWS), the 28th Boe Forum on Public Affairs will feature an evening with Jon Meacham, presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. The talk, entitled “What Has America Learned?” will be held at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 19, in the Elmen Center on Augustana’s campus.
