Augustana alumni Hilina Teferra and Meti Shiferaw ‘14 were the university’s first international students from Ethiopia. Their bravery led to more than 100 Ethiopian enrollments at AU over the last decade.

In conjunction with several university and student groups on campus, Augustana’s International Programs Office (IPO) is proud to celebrate International Education Week (IEW), beginning Sunday, Oct. 31, through Friday, Nov. 5.

Dating back to the early 20th century, Lutheran Normal School (which would later merge with Augustana College) was providing experiential learning for future elementary school teachers. “The Model School” or “Campus Training School” was created to bridge the gap between normal school and higher education.

Augustana has always been committed to the well-being of every student, and now, a model has been developed integrating the key dimensions of well-being, and highlighting the interdisciplinary connections to success.

Augustana University is excited to announce that it now has a Anatomage Virtual Cadaver table, one of only two known tables in South Dakota and one of only a few in the region.

Augustana University students Taha Afzal and Becca Ziems ‘22 were crowned the 2021 Viking Days Royals at coronation on Monday, Oct. 4, at the Elmen Center. 

With the help of Myrl & Roy’s Paving, Inc. (a subsidiary of L.G. Everist, Inc.), the Brandon Valley High School Creative Minds Club and Augustana University Printmaking Program are creating, on Thursday, Oct. 7, large-scale 4-by-8-foot woodblock prints with a steamroller. 

The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana University opens “A Quiet Voice Heard: Retrospective of Kent Kapplinger” which will be on view from Wednesday, Oct. 6, through Saturday, Nov. 6.

Augustana University officially announced that it will be home to the Viking Men’s Hockey program — set to take the ice in the fall of 2023.

Augustana is excited to announce that it will be celebrating the best week of the year — Viking Days 2021 — on Sunday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 10.
