Careers
Philosophy majors have pursued advanced degrees in philosophy, theology, medicine, counseling, law and public administration. Philosophy prepares students for many career fields with rigorous thinking, writing and communication skills, including education, business, social and community service, as well as nonprofit advocacy.

Many philosophy students choose to perform academic research and present at Augustana’s Arthur Olsen Student Research Symposium.
Philosophy students study away in:
- Alaska — focusing on nature writing with AU faculty
- Guatemala and Belize — focusing on tropical ecology, Spanish immersion and philosophy with AU faculty
- Spain and Morocco — focusing on Arab, Christian and Jewish legacies with AU faculty
