Welcome to Augustana University! We are excited to have you join our on-campus community and take part in all Campus Life has to offer. First-year and transfer students will begin their Augustana journey by participating in the fun activities of Welcome Week, which begins on the afternoon of August 22.

August 17 & 19: Local Drop Off (new students only)
Wednesday, July 1: Room & roommate information available on the student portal for new students.
On July 1, you can view your room and roommate information, request a parking permit, and order a loft. If you apply for housing after July 1, your assignment will be made on a rolling basis as space is available. Room and roommate information may change based on need. Check the portal for up-to-date room assignment and roommate information.
If you are living in Bergsaker, Solberg, or East Halls and would like to rent a loft, you must do so directly through College Products. Lofts will be set up for students prior to move in on August 21 as long as they order their loft by July 31. Students will be responsible for setting up their own loft if they place their order after July 31.
Sunday, August 16: International Student Move In
First-year and transfer international students who are new to Augustana should arrive and move in on August 16. International student orientation will begin on Monday, August 17.
Thursday, August 20: Journey Scholars Move In
Journey Scholars will be moving to campus early for activities and campus orientation. The Journey Scholars committee will be at your assigned residence hall ready to welcome you anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 20. Following your move-in, you will have time to get settled with programming beginning at 5:00 that evening.
Friday, August 21 - Saturday, August 22: New Student Move In
First-year students living in Bergsaker, Solberg, and Tuve are required to sign up for a specific time block on August 21 or August 22.
Students must complete their move during the allotted time. Students are allowed to bring two (2) additional people with them to help them move; student leaders and staff will be available to assist moving items into rooms as well. If students choose to bring more than 2 people with them, the additional people must remain outside by their vehicle(s). Students, family members, and staff MUST wear a face mask when inside a building. We will not allow entry without a face mask.

When students arrive at their building, they will proceed to the front desk to check in and receive their room key. Family members, student leaders, and staff will begin moving items up to the student’s room. Students who have not submitted their health records may do so at the Center for Campus Life, located in suite 119 of the Edith Mortenson Center, during move-in times (4-8 pm on Friday and 8 am-4 pm on Saturday).
Welcome Week activities begin promptly at 4:45 pm on Saturday, August 22.
Local students may participate in Local Drop Off.
Students must complete their move during their scheduled time. Students are allowed to bring two (2) additional people with them to help them move. If students choose to bring more than 2 people with them, the additional people must remain outside by their vehicle(s). Students, family members, and staff MUST wear a face mask when inside a building. We will not allow entry without a face mask.
When transfer students arrive on campus, they will proceed to either Campus Life or Campus Safety to check in and pick up their materials. The check in location will be discussed when the student schedules their move-in time.
Welcome Week activities begin promptly at 4:45 pm on Saturday, August 22.
Sunday, August 23 - Tuesday, August 25: Returning Student Move In
Returning students living in East, Granskou, Stavig, and Tuve are required to sign up for a specific time block between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm daily, August 23-August 25.
Students must complete their move during the allotted time. Students are allowed to bring two (2) additional people with them to help them move; moving carts will be available to assist with move-in. If students choose to bring more than 2 people with them, the additional people must remain outside by their vehicle(s). Students, family members, and staff MUST wear a face mask when inside a building. We will not allow entry without a face mask.

Returning students living in theme houses and apartments are not required to sign up for a move-in time slot, since those communities are smaller. The Center for Campus Life will be open during the following times for apartment and theme house residents to check in and pick up their keys:

Monday, August 24 - Tuesday, August 25
8 am - 5 pm daily
Local students can drop off personal items to their residence hall room prior to Friday, August 21. This option is available to new students only. Drop-off times are 6-8 pm on Monday, August 17 and Wednesday, August 19. Students may begin living in their room on Saturday, August 22.
The local drop off process is similar to the move in process. Students will sign up for a time slot and are allowed to bring two (2) additional people with them. Everyone must wear a face mask while inside the residential building. Students will proceed to the front desk and receive their room key, then can begin moving in.
Please note there will not be additional staff available to assist with moving items during local drop off.

New students living in East, Granskou, Stavig, or the apartments should contact Campus Life at firstname.lastname@example.org if they would like to participate in local drop off.
- Contact the Business Office (605.274.5239) and the Financial Aid Office (605.274.5216) to ensure you have completed all tasks related to your semester bill and financial aid package.
- Assemble items to bring for your room — see our list of What to Bring. Don’t forget to bring reusable face masks and a thermometer.
- Label your boxes and other items with your full name, building name, and room number.
- Check your Augustana email account regularly. This is Augustana’s primary way of contacting you.
- Visit with your roommate (their email address and phone number were listed in your room assignment notification).
- Decide which optional services you may wish to purchase such as lofts (Bergsaker, Solberg, and East residents only) or cable TV. Remember, all residence hall rooms are equipped with a refrigerator/microwave unit and students living in campus housing will also have access to free laundry facilities.
- If you plan to bring a car, you need to request a parking permit. You can do this through your student portal, starting July 1. Questions about parking can be directed to Campus Safety.
- Visit the portal to complete your emergency contact information and sign up for the emergency notification system.
- Get involved! Browse Viking Central for information on clubs and organizations and upcoming events.
Students who need to arrive before residential communities open for fall semester must be approved through the Center for Campus Life. Students who are a part of a campus organization, sports team, or other large group will have their early arrival details arranged with their advisor, coach, or supervisor. Individuals who wish to request an early arrival should fill out the Early Arrivals form beginning on July 1. Please note we will not approve any individual early arrival requests for dates prior to Sunday, August 16.
All students are assigned a campus mailbox, located in the Morrison Commons. Students will receive their mailbox information after moving in. Packages sent to your mailbox will be available at the Campus Safety information desk for pick up. Below is an example of your Augustana University address:

The bookstore is open online 24/7. The physical bookstore in the Morrison Commons will reopen July 13.
Once reopened, hours are: Monday-Friday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Textbook pickup will be held in the Back Alley (Morrison Commons) from Friday, August 21 - Friday, August 28 during bookstore hours. You will need to have your ORDER CONFIRMATTION NUMBER READY to be able to pick up your books. Please come by yourself to pick up your on line book order; there is not enough space in the hallway to maintain physical distancing protocols for groups of students or families.
The fall semester meal plan begins with dinner on Sunday, August 23. Meals will be provided to new students participating in Welcome Week on Saturday and Sunday before the dining hall officially opens.
New students can get their student ID card printed at the Campus Safety office, located in the Morrison Commons. Hours are 4-8 pm on Friday, August 21 and 8 am-4 pm on Saturday, August 22. Your student ID allows you to swipe into your residence hall and the dining hall, check out books from the library, and use the Elmen Center, so it is very important you get your ID printed during the times listed.
