Health Services

The following description provides a general scope of treatment available to students at the Campus Clinic (lower level of Solberg Hall). Students who require additional services may be referred to our off-campus clinic — Sanford Clinic-Family Medicine located at 3401 W. 49th Street (on the corner of 49th Street and Oxbow Avenue).

Acute Services

Allergic reaction, animal bites, asthma, bronchitis, colds, contusions, coughs, diarrhea, ear infections, fevers, flu, insect bites, lacerations, migraines, mononucleosis, nausea, pink eye, rash, sinusitis, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening, sore throat, sprains, upper respiratory infection, urinary tract infection (UTI), vaginitis, vomiting, wounds/abscesses

On-Site Laboratory Testing

• Strep test
• Influenza test
• Urinalysis (UA) dip
• Pregnancy screening (HCG)
• KOH for vaginal infection testing performed by Advanced Practice Provider

*Full lab services are available through Sanford Health laboratories.

Immunizations/Injections

• MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
• Meningococcal
• Gardasil
• Tdap (tetanus/pertusis)
• Depo-Provera
• PPD (TB skin test)
• Flu-injectible

To speak with the university nurse, contact the Campus Clinic at 605.274.5552. Many acute care situations can be treated over the phone.

Make an appointment to be seen by the certified nurse practitioner (CNP/physician assistant) or physician at the Campus Clinic on weekdays from 10 a.m. - noon, or make an appointment to be seen by the Sanford provider who will be at the Campus Clinic during the hours listed above. Students should be prepared to present insurance information, as this service will be billed through the student's insurance plan.

Students may choose to make an appointment to be seen at Sanford 49th & Oxbow Family Medicine, 3401 W. 49th Street (at the corner of 49th Street and Oxbow Avenue). Call 605.328.1850 and identify yourself as an Augustana student. Appointments can be made as early as 7:30 a.m. Be prepared to present insurance information as this service will be billed through the student’s insurance plan.

In the event of an urgent health situation occurring after Campus Clinic hours, students may contact Sanford Clinic Family Medicine at 605.328.1850, and they will be assisted by My Sanford Nurse. During university breaks/holidays, please call 605.328.1850.

There is no cost for students when seen by a university nurse at the Campus Clinic in Solberg Hall. Students will be expected to pay for services provided by the nurse practitioner (CNP) and physicians at both clinic locations. Fees will also apply for diagnostic testing and injectable medications.

The University recommends that all students have health insurance or other medical plan coverage that complies with the Affordable Care Act. Students receiving treatment will need to supply their insurance card for services provided by the CNP, laboratory testing and immunizations. Students can visit their portal for more information.

International Students

Augustana requires all international students to maintain medical insurance that provides coverage in the United States and meets certain minimum benefit requirements. Augustana will automatically enroll all international students in Augustana's International Student Accident and Sickness Plan. The insurance premium will be added to the student's bill.

If a student wishes to have the plan waived, proof of coverage must be provided that specifies that the alternate policy provides benefits at least equal to those required by Augustana.

Ask your insurance company representative to complete the waiver form and return it to Augustana. A waiver must be completed every academic year, even if the student was enrolled and waived in the prior academic year.

Students are required to fill out and submit an immunization record, verifying a record of required immunizations before enrolling in their first academic term.

New students must provide health care provider-documented immunization status for measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) and a current vaccination for bacterial meningitis.

During university breaks/holidays and when the Campus Clinic is not open, non-urgent messages and requests for health form information can be left on the office's voicemail system at 605.274.5552.
