Nursing

Prospective and transfer students first apply to the university, then may be sent a nursing program early admission application based on eligibility.

Nursing applications are due no later than Feb. 15 of the year in which the student desires to begin upper-division nursing courses. Applications are available in the nursing office.

Sergeant Major (SGM) Joaquin (Jei) Andujar served our country in the United States Army for 26 years, most recently as part of Mortuary Affairs. He was a decorated combat veteran and humanitarian. In his honor, Jei's wife Tara has set up a memorial scholarship fund for full-time university students who are veterans of the military, spouses and/or children of veterans, or active duty personnel pursuing a major in nursing or a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN). To initiate your application through NursingCAS:

1. Visit NursingCAS
2. Click on Create an Account and begin completing the required fields to start your application. If you have already created an account in previous application cycles, you can click on the Application Login at the top of the page.
3. Once your account with NursingCAS has been created, you will have access to all of our program applications. Please complete the information required for the Accelerated BSN application.

The accelerated nursing program begins each fall. The application deadline for admission is Feb. 15, or until the program is full.

Students who apply for admission will submit documentation of:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and 2.70 or higher in pre-requisite courses
3. Pre-requisite course completion

Admission into the program requires certain sensory, psychomotor, cognitive, communication and behavioral/social abilities that are essential to the practice of nursing.

Application deadline is Oct. 15 for the spring program and March 15 for the fall.

Norwegian Nursing Exchange students should apply through the application portal:

1. Create an application account and then complete and submit the free international student application.
2. Submit a copy of your Norwegian University College Transcripts (Karakterutskrift).
3. Submit a copy of a passport information page that includes name, date of birth and photo.
4. Submit a two-page professional essay including:
   • Summary of experiences in nursing and previous clinical settings
   • Goals for professional practice in the future
   • Goals for an experience at Augustana

After official admission to Augustana University and the nursing program, admitted students will submit the following completed forms electronically to nursing@augie.edu by Dec. 1 for spring and May 1 for fall.

5. Required Immunization Form - Request that the doctor's office fill out and sign this document.
6. Physical Exam Form - Request that the doctor's office fill out and sign this document.
7. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Verification Form - Request that the home university's nursing program office verify and sign this document.
8. Letter from home university indicating that they have on file a Certificate of Good Conduct (police background check) issued by police authorities in the student's hometown. 

Because of the partnership between Augustana and Norwegian partners, the admission paperwork process has been reduced. Nursing exchange students do not have to complete submission of a letter of recommendation, submission of SAT/ACT/TOEFL/IELTS score results, submission of a high school transcript or a financial aid form.
